U.S. ROUTE 29 ATTRACTIONS - Lynchburg, VA
U.S. Route 29 stretches a breathtaking 1,036 miles up the eastern United
States. While we here at Highview Motors GMC serve just a small portion of it in
Virginia, we can attest to the many attractions along the way. Founded in
1926, Route 29 offers some of the most enticing attractions on the eastern
side of the United States. Don't take our word for it! Stop at one of
these great places and see for yourself.

- Danville/Pittsylvania County Veterans Memorial - One of the newer attractions along Route 29, the Veterans Memorial was founded in 2005. Featuring a seven-foot high and 158 foot long granite wall of all the local veterans who fought and died in battle since the American Revolution, it truly is a sight to see. Granite plaques in the Memorial Walkway give a brief history of each conflict. Hosting the slogan "Freedom Is Not Free," the memorial is a fantastic reminder what freedom really costs.
- Mountain Bike Trails - Accessible via Anglers Park or Dan Daniel Memorial Park, Danville's mountain bike trails are some of the longest in the region. Featuring a variety of trail levels ranging from rookie to experience, bikers can take their own path and ride as they wish. Featuring creeks and hillsides only accessible to bikers and trail runners, the mountain bike trails are some of the best in the world.
- AAF Tank Museum - If your trip needs something a little more exciting, take a self-guided tour through the AAF Tank Museum. With a mission to collect, restore, display, and preserve tank and cavalry artifacts, the museum spans 330,000 square feet. Effectively a living memorial to the tank and cavalry soldiers of the world, the museum looks to educate the public on these massive weapons of war. The average visitor spends over two hours touring the museum so be sure to wear your walking shoes!
